Our Stay at the Villa Bordoni in the Chianti Region

The Villa Bordoni is about an hour’s drive south of Florence in Greve, Chianti. The country immediately south of Florence encompasses the Chianti region of Tuscany. You pass through tons of vineyards and more densely wooded forests as you drive through Chianti. As I have said before, the Chianti region is very different from the Val D’Orcia region of Tuscany. The Chianti region is more densely wooded, while the Val d’Orcia is filled with green and yellow rolling pastures. Both are beautiful, just very different. It is important that you know where you are staying so you know what to expect! The Villa Bordoni is a beautiful little villa with only about 10 rooms situated in the midst of vineyards and olive grooves. The property also had the most beautiful little garden where they grow the food that they serve for dinner. The Villa Bordoni is quaint and totally romantic. There was a great pool and the staff was very kind and attentive. We only stayed there for one night but it was a great little visit. It helped us get a sense of the Chianti region that is so famous in Florence. When you order house wine in Florence, about 99% of the time the red wine is a Chianti from the vineyards outside of Florence.

In other news, Matt and I watched the new HBO Robin Williams documentary, “Come Inside my Mind“, and it was just so heartbreaking. Robin Williams was just such an incredible, emotive actor and hilarious comedian. I love comedy of any kind. It is always my go-to when picking movies or TV shows, so I was particularly excited to watch this documentary about one of comedy’s legends. During the documentary I was just struck by how deeply the funniest people in the world really feel everything. They are so emotionally intelligent in so many ways. He was so intelligent and well read! He could make jokes about the world because he had read enough about current events to really know where to start! Robin Williams could portray emotions in a way that so many actors nowadays just can’t. His talent truly was extraordinary. I would definitely recommend watching this documentary.  I am also dying to see the new Mr. Rogers documentary! I have heard that it is amazing. But then again I have never met a documentary that I didn’t like 😉
