Heaven on Earth in South Tyrol, Italy- Staying at La Perla

Last summer when we drove through the Dolomites I scoured The Leading World Hotel Registry to find someplace special to stay for just one night as we passed through the area. I just happened to stumble upon Hotel La Perla in Corvara. Even though our time there was short, it was one of our favorite nights of the entire summer. The whole experience was totally magical and we vowed that we would do whatever we had to do to go back. Even before we knew we were going back to Florence for the summer, I booked a couple of nights at La Perla over the fourth of July weekend. It literally was the first thing I booked for the summer, because I could not wait to go back to this special spot. This time we stayed there for 2 nights and got the chance to go on a seriously amazing hike led by one of the hotel’s hiking guides through the Dolomites. The hike lasted all day long and it is an experience not to be missed. I will do another post just about the hike later!

This area is filled with tons of fun outdoor activities that you can enjoy during the day. There are hiking trails, biking trails, and every other outdoor activity you could ever imagine. If you come during the winter, this area is famous for its skiing and the hotel even has its very own lift up to one of the mountains. I can’t even imagine how magical this entire area is during the winter time! This is the perfect place to come if you would like to get away from the crowds in the Italian cities and just unwind. The Dolomites are such an interesting area of Italy. The whole area feels much more Austrian than Italian and the people that live there speak German! They would also tell you that they do not identify as Italian. It feels totally different than the rest of Italy.

Hotel La Perla is run by two generations of the Costes family. When you are here, you will certainly meet one of the Costes family members. They are so sweet and welcoming and pay close attention to every detail of the hotel. Included in your room rate is breakfast and dinner at the main restaurant. This half board type of dining is typical for all the hotels in this area since there is not necessarily a big restaurant scene in these small Dolomite towns. Breakfast and dinner at the Hotel La Perla are not to be missed! I rushed down to breakfast every morning and it was truly my favorite moment of the entire day. I love me a good hotel breakfast! 🙂

This special spot totally transports you to another world. It was such a treat to get the chance to go back and spend a little more time there.
