Capri

“It must be a great disappointment to God if we are not dazzled at least ten times a day.”
― Mary Oliver

Capri is famous for its bright blue waters and grotto tours but there is so much more to this beautiful little  island off of the Amalfi coast.  When I was younger we docked our boat off the island, so we had not spent much time in the main town which is up away from the docks and port city. It was super easy to take a ferry over to Capri from Amalfi. It took no more than an hour, and during the high tourism season (May to October) ferries run once an hour generally on the hour. Once you get off the ferry, all the hotels have bus boys who swoop in to grab your luggage and bring it up the mountain to your hotel. (Warning- you will be charged for this! Although, I am not sure you have an option because I do not think luggage is allowed on the trolley up to the town.) The town of Capri is pitched on the top of the hill and you have to take a little trolley to get up there from the port. I loved Capri more than I loved Amalfi and was so so glad that we had decided to spend 2 nights there. Capri was a more glamorous version of Amalfi. Downtown Capri is very happening and has the most amazing town square where you can sip on Campari and do some of the best people watching ever. We stayed at the Grand Hotel Quisisiana and absolutely loved our stay there. The Hotel is located in the center of town and was right in the heart of all the action. The hotel has a beautiful outdoor pool that was perfect afternoon swims and a peaceful resting spot when you want to get away from all the shoppers. I was so impressed by the service at the Quisisiana. The concierge was so helpful and helped us figure out what boat tour we wanted to take and also helped us plan our trip back to Rome.

^^ There is so much to do in Capri! There are lots of picturesque hiking trails around the island that lead you to gorgeous old villas or panoramic views. We accidentally ended up hiking and loved every second of it. We got to see so much of the island that we would not have otherwise seen!

^^ Perfect Capri blue. We did not take a blue grotto tour because the lines to get into the grotto were completely insane. During the high tourism periods, you have to wait in line for almost 2 hours before you can go into the grotto. While I am sure it would have been amazing, it just did not seem worth the 2 hour wait!

^^ On the second night that we were in Capri, we had dinner at the Hotel Caesar Augustus and explored Anacapri. Anacapri is the other little town in Capri and is less busy and commercial than the main town where stayed. I loved Anacapri and would absolutely suggest taking some time out to explore this area. The Hotel Caesar was easily one of the most amazing hotels that I have ever seen!

^^ Dear world, I am obsessed with olive trees. I literally yelped for joy every time we saw an olive tree because they are the most beautiful plants in the entire world and are just the best and most perfect shade of green! I am obsessed.

^^ Is this not just completely and totally breathtaking? God put on such an amazing sunset show for us just out of nowhere! None of the pictures of the sunset are edited because they literally could not be altered- they were just so jaw droppingly majestic.
