La Bastide de Marie

After a very long day of traveling I almost died from joy when we finally arrived to Le Bastide de Marie! The hotel sits on a vineyard right outside of the village of Menerbes in the Luberon Hill region of Provence. We drove about an hour through the most countryside from the Avignon train station to Le Bastide de Marie. As soon as I got to the hotel, I got a total surge of energy from the beauty of the place and basically ran around the grounds with total joy because the place just encompassed everything that I truly love. The grounds are lush and immaculate, overflowing with vineyards and rose bushes. Blue and white provencial charm just oozed from the shutters to the coach cushions in the dining room. If you ever get the chance of the lifetime to stay at this special spot, make sure you have dinner there! After not eating from about 24 hours of travel, I inhaled the most amazing beef you have ever had there. This is also coming from a very infrequent beef eater. The wine was fabulous and the cheese out of this world. We only stayed there for one night and I wish we had stayed longer! I would have stayed there for two nights and done a wine tour of the vineyard and just enjoyed the grounds a little more. The village of Menerbes is about a 10 minute drive from the hotel. More from the gorgeous village of Menerbes soon!
