“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.” – Romans 12:10
While we were in NYC, we went to Ground Zero for the first time. I have been to NYC on other trips but have never actually seen Ground Zero itself. I think the whole idea of going there honestly just really scared me. The moment that we got there I was surprised by how emotional I got. The memorial is so striking. There is just something about seeing cascading fountains of water where the Twin Towers used to stand. I was also really moved by the American flags in the names of the those that died in the attacks. I cannot even imagine what the city went through on that horrific day. I left feeling so thankful for our police officers and firemen that gave their lives to save and protect us when crisis strikes. Given what is going on in the world now and how it has become even more risky to be a police officer in today’s very contentious climate, the 9/11 Memorial was such a good reminder of how our police officers and fire fighters deserve to be honored for the ways that they risk their lives to protect and serve our communities.
On a slightly lighter note… every time we are in NYC we ALWAYS go to Laduree for the most amazing macaroons in the whole wide world! There is nothing better. Laduree is based out of Paris and is only located in NYC and Miami in the US. Therefore, if you are in NYC you MUST go! NO ifs ands or buts! I die over the rose petal and pistachio flavored ones. We ate macaroons from Laduree every day that we were in NYC 🙂
