Ravello was easily one of my favorite parts of our trip. It is the most beautiful little town up in the mountains, about a 20 minute cab drive out of Amalfi. I kept walking around the town pinching myself because it was so perfect and beautiful- I thought I was dreaming! Ravello is overflowing with gorgeous old villas, teaming with the most perfect gardens you have ever seen and there are little vineyards around every turn. If you walk down to the Amalfi square there’s a bus ride up to Ravello about every hour. Ravello is known for being “the music city” because every year there is an amazing music festival in the Villa Rufolo, where the orchestra performs on a stage hanging over the Amalfi coast. Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone are must sees. You can take walking tours of the Villas or you can just buy a ticket and walk through them on your own. I made reservations for lunch at the Belmond Hotel Caruso and I had the most amazing anchovy, lemon pasta I have ever had in my entire life! The Hotel Caruso was drop dead gorgeous. If I had a billion dollars I would live there for the rest of my life. You must do whatever you can to see the grounds of the hotel. You must make a lunch or dinner reservation there, just to see it. You must go to Ravello- must see Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone – must see the Hotel Caruso- and must must must wander the streets for at least an afternoon. I would highly, highly recommend spending a night in Ravello if you can. It is all total and complete heaven! I will never ever, ever forget it.
