Decorating the Nursery

Gah finally! The sweet nursery is finished. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I loved this whole process. This little nugget easily has the most beautiful room in our entire house. I debatably went a little overboard in designing this room but I could not help myself. There is nothing better than giving the people you love a beautiful space!

We were so lucky to have some really generous friends who gave us their completely gorgeous RH crib once I found out I was pregnant. I really started with the crib and then built out the room from there. I knew that I wanted her room to have accents of a very light dusty pink, while everything else remained largely neutral. I love when a baby girl’s nursery feels feminine and the goal was to create a space that felt sweet and a little romantic, but not too in your face pink-pink.

I cannot resist patterns with little hearts! Every time I see a little outfit with sweet little pink hearts I just have to buy it. I absolutely loved this RH crib sheet and it’s just as subtly pretty in person. The petal pink crib skirt perfectly matches, along with this sweet Monique Lhuillier Pom Pom Blanket. (Side note- I know it is dangerous for the baby to sleep with the blanket in her crib until she gets a little bigger. Right now it is just there for us to lay out and have her play on.) I am not a very big rug person and always prefer the simplicity of pretty hardwood floors as opposed to a big rug but our house literally has no soft places for a baby to crawl around on so we needed a rug in the nursery. I love the idea of a rug being a place to add a little color since you can easily change it in a couple of years. I loved the subtly and the softness of this RH rug in the pale petal/warm white color.

Changing Pad Cover/ Changing Pad/ Changing Table Dresser from MegMade / The Ubbi Diaper Pail/

For some natural elements, I added in the Quinn Hamper (a gift from Matt’s sweet mom) and the matching changing table storage caddy as well as THIS mirror. I love, love this mirror. It just feels so whimsical and fun. I had been looking at it for months before we finally pulled the trigger and my sweet Dad purchased it for me as a gift to the baby.

We had the white rocker for years prior and I wish I could remember where it is from but we have had it for so long I totally forget! It has been passed through my family.

If you have ever been over to my house, you will know that I hate overhead lighting. I spend most of my time going around and turning off the over head lights. I love standing and table lamps but overhead lighting always feels too harsh and kills the mood, especially if there is no dimmer switch! Because of this little strange obsession of mine, we got this incredibly beautiful standing lamp from Serena and Lily. Oh my gosh I absolutely love it. You can turn on just one of the light bulbs or both. I just love that! It also has the most beautiful linen shade. Linen shades make all the difference and really add that extra beautiful element!

How sweet are these tassel trimmed drapes?! I love them so much. For my birthday my mom bought me a little crystal chandelier to replace the ceiling mounted overhead light in this room. We added a dimmer to the light switch and it is so beautiful.

We are going to eventually replace the Ikea bookcase we have here because it is falling apart. I was thinking of purchasing this piece, but for now what is here works well.

Now just counting down the days until this little nugget makes her big arrival! 🙂
