Menerbes, France

During our time in Provence we got the chance to visit so many gorgeous little towns. Each one had a slightly different feel but honestly they were all worth seeing. Menerbes was probably one of my favorites because it was the very first one we saw. Menerbes is one of the villages in the Luberon hill region of Provence. Matt and I got the chance to explore in the morning and it only took us about an hour and a half or maybe two hours to walk through the entire village. I was most shocked by the fact that when compared to Italy and the towns we visit there, there are literally no tourists anywhere. More shocking than that is the fact that there are no American tourists anywhere to be found! We mostly saw British or French tourists. That helped make visiting these towns even more special. I was also shocked by how quiet Menerbes really was. In these pictures there are no people around, because there were literally no people around! It was clear though that people do live in this town from all the gorgeous little doors we walked by. I love how the French and really Europeans in general take such good care of their little homes. Although their homes are small in comparison to our big American lots, they take such pride in decorating their doorways with arches of flowers. It’s just the very best. There were tons of gorgeous cafes and bistros in Menerbes and although we did not eat lunch here I am sure this would have been a fabulous spot to stop for a great lunch.
