Inside Crillon Le Brave and my Favorite Places for Florence Tips

I have so many pictures to go through it is becoming a slight problem! We have seen and experienced more beautiful things this summer than I ever thought possible. It is such an incredible problem to have, so please just bear with me as I slowly go through them all! There were so many gorgeous secret nooks at the Hotel Crillon Le Brave. I loved the way that they were able to create small private spaces throughout the grounds. Isn’t this ivy covered nook the sweetest?! I just love everything about it.

Now for a little Florence info since we have actually been in Florence now for about 3 weeks! I hate touristy spaces and places with a passion. I generally like to knock out all of the major tourist attractions right at the very beginning of a trip or just never do some of them at all. For example, last year we spent three months in Florence and we never once went inside the famous Duomo. We often walked over to the square and enjoyed its beauty but we stayed away from the crazy tours. Just today we finally went inside and got a tour of the dome! It was insanely beautiful and gave you such a good view of Florence. It was well worth the 463 steps that it took to get to the top!

That being said I try to find local bloggers who have lived in Florence for some amount of time when determining where to eat and hang. I also love scouring magazines like ElleDecor, Food & Wine, CondeNaste Traveler and Vogue for their travel sections and tips. You need to weed through the mass amounts of sub-par information from people with bad taste and focus on the suggestions from the tastemakers.

I recently found Emiko Davies blog and have been eating my way through Florence pursuant to all of her restaurant recommendations! She literally has not steered us wrong once! I can not even believe how many restaurants there are in Florence. Even though we spent the whole summer here last year, we are still trying new places. Emiko lived in Florence for years and also wrote a cookbook called the “Florentine.” Her recipes and suggestions are fabulous. I love her mini guide to Florence and also love her Taste of Florence guide. You could spend days reading through her blog about all of her recommendations! She is just fabulous and everything she recommends is so right-on.

Here is a great guide from Vogue. A good one from CNN Traveler. Best new hotels in Italy. Mario Batali’s Guide to Florence from Food & Wine. Insider’s Guide to Florence by Food & Wine. The Villa San Michelle review by ElleDecor.

I will be putting together my own Florence food and drink guide very soon as well! If you are heading to Florence and want some quick suggestions please comment below and I will get back to you!
