Kauai and Oahu

Matt and I were looking into warm places to vacation to and let me tell you that Zika basically eliminated every warm destination besides Hawaii! We are paranoid and so we booked our tickets to Hawaii and seriously had such a good trip! We ate acai bowls every morning and I basically had a heart attack from seeing so many gorgeous flowers trees. It was too much for my flower loving heart to handle. Hawaii also had some of the most gorgeous beaches I had ever seen!

We flew into Honolulu and then took a short flight to Kauai for the first few days of our trip. Kauai is known as the garden island and the flowers there do not disappoint! It is totally magical. We rented a car and drove around the Island and explored all the different beaches. Kauai is also known as one of the rainiest places on the earth though so always plan for rain! A storm system moved through the islands while we were there and we got hit with a monsoon like storm that confined us to our hotel room for one of the days. We spent the rest of the time in Kauai chasing the sun around the island. The northern side of the island is known for being the rainier side so we explored the northern side the first day and then spent the rest of the time on the southern side, which was totally gorgeous as well! If you plan on traveling to Kauai put extra room in your budget for food because food there was surprisingly expensive. Just assume that all food (no matter what it is, is going to cost you more than $12 per meal. After our third day in Kauai, we flew back to Honolulu and stayed at an Airbnb in Diamond Head. Diamond Head is a upscale, suburban neighborhood right outside of Waikiki beach. I really loved being outside of the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, but how we were still only like 5 minutes away. This was my first Airbnb experience and it was so good! I was so happy with our place and would highly recommend it! It was much more affordable than the hotels in the area (we did not have to pay for parking) and super clean and pretty. For the remainder of our trip we drove around Oahu and spent two days at Lanikai, which was one of the most gorgeous beaches I have ever seen. You must go there if you are ever in Oahu! We had the best shaved ice with cream on the North Shore and obsessively looked for Amber Fillerup from Barefoot Blonde because she is temporarily living on the North Shore of Oahu right now and she is my blog crush for life. I had so much good time to read and this bookworm over here read her heart out. It was amazing.
