Even though Matt grew up in San Diego he had never spent much time in LA. I had wanted to explore LA and really see what it was like for awhile now because – being from Chicago – I had never spent much time in LA either! We went out for short weekend and stayed at the Ace Hotel in Downtown La. I loved the Ace Hotel but did not like downtown LA or the area surrounding it at all. Downtown LA is super dirty- I would not suggest that you stay there. However, there were really good restaurants and we had some amazing sushi at SUGARFISH and had amazing tacos at the Grand Central Market. The Grand Central Market is a must see. It is a huge food market with stands from some of the best, very high quality restaurants in LA. Some of my favorite memories from the trip are from the day we explored outside of LA. One day we drove down Highway 1 and stopped in Malibu and Santa Barbara. It took roughly 2 hours to drive from LA to Santa Barbara. Santa Barbara was a really beautiful little town that I would definitely go back to and spend a whole weekend there. We stopped at the El Matador State Beach in Malibu which was unbelievably gorgeous and one of my favorite stops on our trip.
Food Highlights– SUGARFISH, Grand Central Market, Sqirl for brunch or lunch and Gracias Madre for tacos and margaritas in West Hollywood
Must Do’s– Explore the Grand Central Market, hang out in West Hollywood, drive down Highway One and spend the day at El Matador State Beach, hang out or stay in Santa Barbara.

^^ The RH in West Hollywood was a complete dream! I loved how it was essentially an open air space. The roof top was also next level.
