Safe Little Spaces

Bathrooms should be white and clean. If you’ve ever been in a dirty, old, yellow bathroom – you know it’s not a pleasant experience. It’s almost impossible to feel comfortable, yet alone at “home” in a bathroom that feels like there are germs waiting to jump on you and disease you. Bathrooms are the most private room in a home. Bathrooms are private – yet shared by many. For some, bathrooms also provide a safe haven from a noisy stressful day, or even a momentary escape from an awkward party. I imagine that is why sometimes it is referred to as a “restroom”. It can serve as a small, quiet hideaway for a moment of rest or refreshment.

My mom recently re-modeled this bathroom and I love how bright and clean it is. The white-tiled shower and marble countertops reflect the light so beautifully. The wicker basket and mirror give a hint of color – not to mention the pink flowers… which are always a must. The teal floors… wow.

The bedroom is also a place of rest. A place where you spend close to 8 hours each night completely detached from this scary world, disconnected from social media, and floating through the clouds (hopefully) in dreams. If you’re my husband, it also means stealing covers and possibly waking up on the other side of the room after a sleep walk. Bathrooms and Bedrooms are such important places in a home because they offer rest. They offer a place that is safe, free and re-charging. One of my favorite places to be is curled up in a bed of fluffy white sheets and pillows where everything is for a moment safe and sound. I hope that you find peace and rest in your private spaces.
